SILCA Super Secret Chain Lube
Hot melt performance. Drip-on convenience.
The fastest, cleanest, easiest chain lube ever.
Born from SILCA’s mission to deliver pro-level drivetrain performance, Super Secret Chain Lube brings the speed and efficiency of hot melt waxing to a simple drip-on formula.
Developed by Josh Poertner, this lube began as a project to perfect hot-melt wax. The turning point came from the world of IndyCar engineering, where SILCA discovered a way to suspend micro-scale wax powders in a quick-drying solution. The result? A coating that performs identically to a traditional hot melt dip — with none of the mess or prep.
Infused with Tungsten Disulfide (WS₂), the formula dramatically reduces drivetrain friction and wear, outperforming even top-tier wax lubes in independent testing.
Key Benefits
- Hot Melt Performance — No Crockpot Needed:
Matches the efficiency and cleanliness of hot melt wax, but applies easily like a wet lube. - Nano WS₂ Technology:
Reduces friction and wear for a smoother, longer-lasting drivetrain. - Simple, Fast Application:
Just drip on a clean, dry chain — no heating or melting required. - Quick Drying Formula:
Forms a solid, wax-like coating that stays clean and quiet on the road or trail. - Pro-Level Efficiency:
Tested and proven to outperform leading hot melt waxes in friction tests.
Available Sizes
- 4 oz or 8 oz bottles — with precision applicator tips for easy chain application
How to Use
- Start with a very clean, dry chain (degreased and residue-free).
- Shake well before use — WS₂ will naturally settle to the bottom.
- Apply evenly to the inside of each link while backpedalling slowly.
- Let dry for at least 12 hours (24 hours if cool or humid).
- Apply after your ride, so it’s fully cured for the next one.
Pro Tips
- When applied correctly, the finish is indistinguishable from a hot melt wax dip.
- Reapply every few hundred miles or when shifting becomes noisy.
- Works great for road, gravel, and MTB drivetrains.
